Fans in China feel 'scammed' after Lionel Messi did not play in Inter Miami's preseason friendly against a Hong Kong XI.

WHAT HAPPENED?
The Herons went on to win the match 4-1, but the eight-time Ballon d'Or winner did not participate in the contest. As a result, match organizer released a statement saying they were 'extremely disappointed' by the lack of an appearance from the Argentine. Despite that, fans are not thrilled with the outcome.

WHAT FANS SAID
“We do feel a bit scammed by the club because we paid, and I think most people pay, to see Messi and it was advertised almost exclusively that Messi was going to play,” fan Ada Kam told CNN, holding a placard that read “refund scam”.

Fans traveled from around China and neighboring countries to get a glimpse of the World Cup winner in action. However, much to their dismay, there was not even a jersey signing or chance for him to say hello to those in attendance at the match. Now, per the same CNN report, Hong Kong officials are asking for an explanation.
